Extension wall join to old wall?

How are modern extension cavity walls joined to limed mortar solid stone walls when they meet at 90 degrees?

There must be a recommended way of doing it (I have yet to appoint an architect).

I am just interested in what the acceptable approach is, it must be a common requirement...what with breathability moisture concerns etc.

There's a number of different methods. The original one is to cut toothings into the wall and bond the new brickwork in.
More modern methods are wall starters or things like Bluebird fixings.
The main purpose of all of these is the lateral restraint of the wall ends, especially when under construction.
