Hi, we are planning to put down encaustic tiles on our small driveway. Can anyone recommend anyone who sells these and who would also give us advice on colours etc.
Hello Dianne, I only know of 2 places, Craven Dunhill Jackfield and Original style. Jackfield are the real deal, Original Style are more modern repro but still nice, but are thinner than Jackfield or original Victorian ones. Are you sure you want encaustic tiles (tiles with patterns in different coloured clay), they are very expensive and decorative for a driveway. Will the drive be for vehicles or just foot traffic? I'd have thought most encaustic or geometric tiles wouldn't have been strong enough for vehicles.
Tony Mugridge, who used to work at Craven Dunhill, could certainly advise, or even produce you some if you're only after a small amount. He's semi retired but would be interested in an interesting project I'm sure.
Lovely chap too and will talk at length on the subject.
