Earthborn paints

Looking at the Earthborn paints after stripping paper off walls and filling in any holes/repairs with new plaster (hopefully limecote will do this). There is the Claypaint range and the Eco Pro range - can't really see much difference except price. Anybody any comments? Thanks Penny

I used the "ordinary" Earthborn claypaint last year and am very pleased by it.

NB Roll it, don't brush it.

we used their clay paint everywhere internally, very pleased with it. so much so that we the silicate masonry paint outside.

no regrets with either so far. no experience of the Ecopro range

We've only used the Claypaint but have been very pleased with it. It seems harder to maintain a wet edge than with emulsion due to its thick consistency but a thinned initial coat and the use of bigger brushes helps.

The Claypaint has clay and kaolin in it and is thick. EcoPro has no clay/kaolin and is closer to a modern emulsion.

I've used the Claypaint over very rough old surfaces, some with multiple layers of paint that I don't want to strip back as the underlying plaster is unsound, and the Claypaint covers up those rough surfaces very well. it's a very creamy paint. I'd put EcoPro onto new plaster or very sound flat older plaster, it doesn't have the same ability as the Claypaint to soften rougher surfaces.
