But I always switch off appliances not in use...
It should be very interesting if everybody took this excercise to heart in order to evaluate the amount of energy we pump into thin air ( and make it thicker !!).
I personally keep chasing my scatterbrained young family all round the house(s) switching electrical supplies off, especially the grand children. It also has to do with the fact that I pay most of the bills.
