Hello all, I am looking for some help with the next steps. A little bit of background this is my mum and dads old house we are currently in the process of clearing, and buying the house from my brother so he happy for us to start work. Farmhouse is late 17C with an extension done in late 70s. We have this wall in the middle of the old part of the house in the dining room, the other side is the stairs and under the stairs. The dinning room had two layers if lino and a carpet on the floor, which is concrete with wallpaper on the wall. Salts and damp started on the stairs so we removed some of the paper then cleared the under the stairs out it also has years of clutter and two layers of carpet. Since clearing and having dehumidifiers on it’s really dried out but I’m unsure what is the best way forward. I would like to take the bottom part of the plaster off the walls and use panelling with an air gap and vents at the top and bottom of the panelling. What would you recommend for the concrete floor? I don’t want to take it up so recommendations for coverings would be great. Or if you think I’m going the wrong route please let me know. Thanks I have attached photos for reference.
