Dryer vent

Not exactly a period property question as utility room is of breeze block inner with outer render. Have trawled the net to try to find an answer but failed miserably.
I need to drill a 100mm hole through the wall to vent a tumble dryer. Am trying to find out if there are recommendations as to how far or maybe how near one can go to a door frame to drill
said hole. Any pointers in the right direction gratefully received.

Don't go so close that it looks silly!!

I think you'll only get opinions on that one, and mine would be about 4" away is as close as I'd want to get. Don't forget that your hole doesn't have to be round, if it gives you any more options you can get rectangular ducting and a conversion piece to bring it back to round to attach the dryer.

Is it a single skin wall or cavity?

Honestly unsure but assuming standard construction with breeze block with outside brick rendered. Until I drill through there is always the chance I
have got it wrong ! Fitting sockets indoors convinced me construction is as assumed.

If it's an older cavity wall the blockwork will probably be returned to meet the brickwork at the jambs with a length of 6 inch DPC between them. So it's best to keep about 6 inches away at least.

Will be about 7inch inside the frame. Was about to drill it out then wondered if that was a bit too near the frame edge. Probably be okay as will only be a 100mm hole not as if I am trying to take out a window sized aperture.
