dripping window frames?

So onto the next project....
I've noticed that in the attic the top of my small cottage type windows are literally dripping with water (from the frame). I can't see that it's coming in from anywhere and particularly as there's no link between this and we weather. I'm making the assumption that it's condensation, but didn't think i'd get this on the wood?? any ideas as to the problem/solution? Thanks

Sounds a bit odd to get it on the frame at the top Jim. Maybe posting up a few pictures of the problem would help us spot something?

We sometimes get condensation on the inside of the wooden front door, at the edges of the inset panels where the wood is thinnest. Door is thickly varnished (on the inside) with some sort of woodstain gunk and probably acts like a piece of plastic. Its all down to excessive humidity in the house at times. It wouldn't be surprising if you had high levels of humidity at the very top of the house and a cold window frame. If the wood is damp from cracked paintwork on the outside, the wood might be even colder than it would otherwise be.

Are you saying that the wood parts of the window are dripping with condensation, but the glass isn't? I confess that I find that very odd. Broadly I agree with worms, that in the attic (unheated perhaps?) you're likely to get a collection of warm moisture-laden air that has risen up from the rest of the house, and which then condenses on any cold surface. But there doesn't seem to be much logic in the fact that it's condensing on the wood but not the glass.

Are you quite certain that it's not running down the glass and on to the wood?

Thanks for the replies, i'll take a couple of photos tomorrow. It sounds more like condensation could be the issue. The glass has condensation on too. The Frames only have an undercoat on outside and it is very cold at the moment, and as i'm in the middle of renovating the attic there's no heating. I was just surprised that condensation could form on the wood.
