Hi All,
With all the rain we've been having I've been checking the lower level gutters and "adjusting" them as best I can so they actually do move the water from the roof to down pipes.
Now correct me if I'm wrong, I had this crazy notion that the downpipes are supposed to drain water into the soakaway drains, they're not supposed to be near the drain but actually over it, ideally.
Mine aren't and as a result perhaps only 25% of the water from them goes down the soakaway. The rest seems to end up as a puddle nearby, which obviously isn't right.
Unfortunately all my pipework is cast iron, so I'm a bit unsure as to how to adjust it so it actually enters the drainage system...
One downpipe at the rear of the property, actually disappears down the hole of the drain, so I was wondering if this might be the answer and if so how I can extend them to do that?
thanks for any tips.
