Drafts from celllar through floorboard gaps

I left the gaps in the pine floorboards I recently sanded as I was advised not to fill them with a resin/sanding dust mixture as it tends to crumble. Although I like the gaps aesthetically, drafts are coming from the well-aired cellar. I am considering to staple-gun lengths of paper-coated thin insulation to the bottom of the boards between the joists.

I am slightly concerned that the boards may rot over time if they are covered as the cellar does have some damp.

If anyone in the forum has any experience with this problem, suggestions would be much appreciated.

I suggest you do a search of the forum - not that long ago we had a couple of really long threads about floorboard gaps, with lots of good ideas for possible solutions.

I don't think you need to worry about the boards rotting if you insulate them underneath; any moisture will still be able to evaporate into the room above.

Iam about to grout the floor in my kitchen which is yorkshire stone laid on sand and soil i have my NHL 3.5 But dose anybody know what mix it should be and with what sand? sharp sand or soft ?
