double glazing listed building

I am looking into secondry double glazing for a grade 2 listed building. I have been in contact with Storm whom will be sending a quote. Does anyone know whether I can reduce the bill? I thought I had read somewhere that the VAT could be paid by the local council. If anyone could provde me with some facts/advice I would be grateful.

If the council require you to apply for listed building consent for secondary glazing, the VAT office might view it as an "alteration", and therefore it might be eligible for zero-rating for VAT.
Your council may also offer grants for "energy efficiency" improvements - might be worth asking them.


VAT
