We have recently purchased a Grade II Listed property in the North of England. Over the years it has suffered at the hands of many unsympathetic DIYers. In fact it was only listed to stop a previous owner (in the 80's) doing anymore damage. The Listing mainly applies to the external appearance and not the interior. In the late 80's Listed Building consent was given to install four Lower Ground floor Windows, unfortunately it did not stipulate materials and UPvc was used. We have applied to replace all the windows to the rear of the property with wooden yorkshire sash windows made to measure, however due to the fact that we are on a very busy main road and a high elevation, asked that we be able to utilise double glazing. It has been suggested by the Listed Buildings Officer that we can have double glazed doors but not windows. Has anyone else been successful in gaining listed building consent for double glazed wood windows
