Advice please. We have a 200 year old ex farmhouse (not listed) and we have just discovered that the suspended lounge floor has to go - half the joists are rotten with damp (no damp proofing and everything really was damp once we lifted the carpet and a few boards ) and half the rest of the joists are so full of woodworm they literally crumble to the touch So we are having a new set of joists fitted (prottected from the damp walls and floor) and extra ventilation into the subfloor - which our builder is really keen on. Only 40% of the old floorboards are still useable and we are thinking of buying some reclaimed boards to make up the difference and scrapping the carpet to enjoy the wooden boards. However, I am concerned that once the sub floor gets properly ventilated we are going to be really cold in the winter. I have seen posts about filling gaps between boards but how about all the old nail holes. I have also seen comments about insulating between the joists but we have little space I dont want to reduce ventiation. Will reclaimed boards make the room cold or am I being a pessimist :?:
