different colours of hydrated lime

Should hydrated lime always be bright white? My husband just bought a different brand (Dragon Alfa) from usual and it's a pale, murky fawn colour. He's concerned that he's bought the wrong sort of lime.

Proper lime putty is not an option here in the Isle of Man. We'd be paying exorbitant shipping costs for the weight of the water in it, basically.

Some French stuff can be Gray , the sand you use may also have something to do with it.
You could try to whiten it with chalk.

The NHL (Castle) I opened yesterday is ever so slightly off white but the hydrate (three varieties) I've used has always been a brilliant white colour.
