Hi - the saga of the bathroom/spare room is still ongoing. The insurance company has written an initial report (to which I have faxed them back with a loooong list of questions) and installed fans and dehimidifiers to dry the place out, which are slowly driving me crazy - but we are down to 30% humidity in the bathroom and 60% underneath (both from 100), so fingers crossed they will be taken away and we can get a decent nights sleep! Any idea how much humidity there is supposed to be in a house?
We are still on the form-filling stage for the council - but now its gone to the planning department they're not being particularly helpful. (Have just sent them a looong email too!) Any advice gratefully received on putting the application together, bearing in mind that
1) we have liaised with the conservation officer about what is required
2) we're not adding anything, just remodelling (although the radiator will need to come out), and the party wall will be moving along to allow us to expose a hidden fireplace, making the bathroom smaller
Also - how long do these things generally take? All being well, once we have the fans, etc. removed, the insurance are ready and waiting to begin work once everything is in place with the council. It would be nice to have a shower installed, and the holes in the bathroom fixed by Christmas!
