many moons ago, Penners, you advised me of a link for
decoding lozenge marks on cast iron fireplaces; I have lost
the notes I made. Do you still have that info, please ?

Yeah - the Mentholyptus mark is quite common on lozenges.

Well, that's kind of you, but frankly, when I'm in forin I likes to eat forin.

There's a big weekly market in the nearest town to where we go. Each week, an English guy sets up his little stall selling HP sauce, Heinz B/B's, Bird's custard, Bovril and suchlike. Oh, dear...

Interesting site, although I was disappointed to see that Chocolate Olivers were missing.

But I agree with Penners and always try to eat local when travelling - it's such a big part of the experience. I once took a trip to Singapore with a US colleague who wouldn't try anything local and it was a total nightmare for him to dine out until he discovered the local Hard Rock Cafe, which solved his problem (although not mine!).

Dunno - not me, for a start! But I suspect that ex-pats may be stuck in a kind of nostalgic dietary time-warp - or at least the Anglais with the market stall thinks they are.
