Hmm. The gravestones seem to be the least of the vandalism but the highlight of the story.

The gravestone issue is perhaps the most upsetting part of the story though. quite sick.

I would suggest, however, that the decision to pursue prosecution does not rest solely with the c.o. More often than not, this decision is made by the elected membership further to input from both legal and enforcement sections.

What a stupid, awful man......and how terrible to desecrate the graves of children in such a way. I hope he gets his come-uppance, not least for crimes against what was obviously a once beautiful property and which now resembles a footballer's 'trophy' home

This was actually very common practice during the 1970s and 80s. Closed graveyards where cleared and the grave stones sold off. I am aware of one property that is owned by English Heritage that has a gravestone floor. It was done before English Heritage / Natural England to be fair to them when works where carried out by the government to historic buildings. I recently visited a Church in Plymouth where all the pathways were made up of Gravestones left over after the WW2 bombing. People didn't notice until I pointed it out to them!
