Damp proofing that isn't?

Anyone any experience of this damp 'solution'?

It seems to be some sort of 'retrofit air brick', for want of a better term, that uses the passage of air through the brick vent to take moisture out of the wall. It certainly seems less invasive than chemical injection or tanking.

I wouldn't say it looks much less invasive than chemical injection.

Only in the sense that the vents can be reversed by replacing with new stone/brick whereas chemical injection isn't 'as' reversible (without rebuilding a horizontal section of wall)

Similar stuff has been around for years, ceramic tubes.

Looks appalling and there isn't a great deal of evidence that it's effective.

Damp - better off finding the cause and curing that...

Certainly wont cure condensation or penetrating damp as is claimed in advertising.

Also suggests doesnt require replastering..............salts (assuming rising damp)!!

Have been problems where installed in listed buildings ..........visual appearence!!

I have had 2 clients who have claimed money back under their 12 month (if we dont reduce the levels of dampness we will return your money) guarantee, although one did have to go to Court.
