Hi after some advice, we have an 18c timber frame cottage that we’ve spent years and money restoring and all has gone well …so far. the House is built direct to ground and ground internal floors are pammet tiles laid on dry sand and pointed with mortar ( another job to do) our floor covering is loose laid laid mats. The previous owners had fitted carpets, these were removed during our ongoing reno action. During our renovation the carpets were removed which revealed a soaking wet floor, we removed some of the floor which revealed a large plastic sheet under the sand that the pammet are sat on, this sheeet was removed as far as possible and to date all has been well. However since we’ve had the humongous amount of Rain recently a large section of the floor is very very damp so much so that my moisture readout is ‘OL’. To this point ive not been particularly bothered believing that nature will take its course and eventually it will dry out…….this is taking slightly longer than I had expected, There are definitely no pipes under the floor so the wet is from the ground , should I be concerned? If so what are my options? Remove the floor and replace the plastic mat? Dehumidifier? Or just let nature take its course
any input from those that know better would be appreciated
cheers for now
