Hello,
I've noticed alot of well informed discussion of damp problems on this site. We are just looking at buying a propery built in 1848 of Brick. The bank's basic valuation survey says "High electronic damp meter readings within the internal wall between the kitchen and the reception room and moderately high readings within the rear main wall. A damp and timber specialist and remedial action are recommended"
I would like help with 2 questions really.
First: As a statement on a basic valuation, could this mean not much more than that the 'surveyors' found what they took to be some evidence of damp? The report states that the property is suitable security for the loan and indeed gives the value in present condition as higher than the current agreed price;
Second: Can anyone recommend a reputable, objective person to properly asses whether there is a significant damp problem in this property? Or short of that suggest where I might obtain such a recommendation?
Thanks in advance and apologies if this has all been covered before.
Matt
