Also - Derby's Deco Bus Station is being occupied - local protestors don't want that 'regenerated' either - ie demolished and replaced by bars, caffs 'mixed development' etc in the usual crud design.

Lets hope the council comes out of this with a hammering from the courts and the houses stand.
We have people up trees here at the moment trying to stop Tescos cutting 300 trees down, all over the news apparently. Even got Nicholas Cage to sign the petition aparently whilst house-hunting in Glastonbury.

Well, the houses are bad enough - but the loss of the theatre grim.

It's difficult now to see what legally can be challenged. Great though that costs were awarded. Councils are knocking down anything old and interesting and making places nowheresville - all in the name of 'regenearation'. Yet historic buildings can be incorporated into regeneration schemes.

There's more protection given to trees than historic buildings in many cases!
