Cracks in harling

Any advice on repairing slight (and a not so slight) cracking in old harling, which looks like cement but is probably a lime and cement mix, over stone walls.

I am looking for a compound or product which won't cause any more cracking, as it expands or contracts, but not knowing the original composition of the harling, I am concerned to repair with something that is more likely to be neutral.

Could I just hazard a lime repair?

Until you know the composition of the existing render than it is difficult to recommend a solution.
Also it is very likely that the cracks are not just in the scat coat.
Would suggest you remove any loose around the large crack to see how deep it is and find out wether it is cement or lime based before attempting to repair.

Thanks Kev. Can you tell me the preferred solution for each (ie) if cement, or if lime?

Is there a filling product which can flex, and not make the harling crack again?
