crack in porcilane toilet cistern!!!

Any help here would be great!!! I have a lovely old painted porcilane toilet & cistern! Problem is we have just had a bathroom accident & now the cistern has a crack in & its leaking!! I dont want to replace it as I would never find another like this. Can anone advise me how to repair it??? Hope someone can let me know what to use to seal it or repair it???

We had a similar thing happen yesterday when our reclaimed royal doulton cistern was installed. The plumber drained the cistern and put a waterproof silicone sealer on the inside of the cistern over the crack. When it was dry he filled it back up again and it hasn't leaked since. I also thought I would see if I could find someone who repairs pottery to give advice on how to conceal the crack on the outside. Although it doesn't leak which is the main thing!

Hi! & Thanks Teresa & spoonhunter for your link! Just off to buy some waterproof silicone sealer & see if we can repair it ourselves, if not I think I will try your link & see if I can get it repaired! Thanks very much for your replies, most helpful & quick too!!!

For ceramic repairs, try Milliput. I'm not sure if it it will seal a leaking cistern, but it will fill chips and cracks. It can be tinted and painted and cold glazed. Try a google for ceramic repairs.
