I am all paranoid now after recent discussions so i thought i would run this past you guys.
Old daub , i have used a mix of soft chalk , hair and lime putty to form a soft plaster to plaster over some badly damaged daub infills. I thought this would be best as its an obvious repair and totally reversible as i didnt key the daub first. Basically i used a slurry on the daub first of chalk and putty then when that went green i applied the plaster, so its more like a thick coat of lime wash and can easily be removed to reveal the original daub underneath should anyone in the future wish to.
i have not done this on all the daub panels nor do i intend to , just some that were crumbling and needing repair.
i tried using more daub but found that this wasnt reversible as the new daub wouldnt break away easily from the old.
what are your thoughts guys?
