'a house with 12 beds would probably fetch more than £5m today.' Unless you were opening a guest house, why would anyone need 12 bedrooms? We can barely muster enough junk to fill the spare one we have already.

Can't say the same - I have enough junk to fill vast amount of space, and oubuilding space, and really could fill more... I doubt the people buying these are collectors of junk however:
