We're just buying a lovely 17th century Grade II listed farmhouse. (You can see it on the Estate Agent's site here:
http://www.bidwells.co.uk/view_property.php?property_id=CAM070192&property_type=residential)
It's timber framed, and is suffering rather from damp. We, the current owners and the surveyors are all pretty sure that the pebble-dashing is making things worse - it's a cement rich render, and cracked and repaired in a few places. The current owner would have loved to have removed the pebble-dashing and replaced it with a lime render, but felt it would have needed a lottery win to afford it! As you can see from the pictures, the house covers a pretty big area (it has a total internal area of 254m2) but the roof comes down low, so it is mostly 1 1/2 storeys that needs rendering, except of course at the gable ends .
Does anyone have an idea what sort of figure it would cost to replace? Are we talking a lottery win of £25,000 or of £100,000 to afford it?
