Cost for Lime Plastering

Hi all, getting some lime plastering done and just wondered if anyone had an idea on the going rate per m2? The last lot I did myself but just don't have the time at the moment so need to bite the bullet and pay someone :roll:

Remember a post recently on cost of pointing but don'r recall seeing anything on plastering.

Just in case it matters, it is inside and 3 coat (course/medium/fine).

We had the small front room completely replastered with 3 coat lime last year by a guy who lives near to me in North Yorkshire. He charged £1700 for approx 27 meters square, that also included leaving us enough lime wash to cover it ourselves. This is his website: www.markmccorrie.co.uk

How long did it take him? Just trying to gauge the number of man-days involved.

1 day per coat but there was 2 weeks between the first and second and a couple of days between the second and third. Lime wash went on a day after the third coat. After 3 coats of lime wash I painted using earth born clay paint which is expensive but really lovely to put on.

So sounds like to allow £60-£70 per sq m then incl materials. Anyone else got any experience of prices - useful for us all to have a rough price per metre in mind ?

I was quoted £150 per m2 (3 coats, inc. materials) by a conservation plasterer, needless to say, didn't take him up on it...

We were quoted £120/m2 +VAT to lime render the outside. That probably included scaffolding and disposing of the portland cement render it had but I can't be sure. The same company offered a one day course for £90 (including pub lunch) to teach you how to do it yourself. I got the impression they didn't want to actually do the work but I found someone else more locally who quoted around half that.

Sorry to slightly hijack this thread - I was just about to post the same question. Does anybody have any idea how these per sq m costs would change if the laths needed replacing and then the plastering was done?

Got a big plastering job coming up that I don't really fancy and haven't been able to get quotes anywhere near that!
