We are half way through an extension to our old cottage. We opted to keep floor levels consistent throughout, but this means that the new downstairs room we are creating has a fairly low ceiling.
In the rest of the downstairs we have beams, but I am not keen to fake beams when they are not needed. We had intended to use cornice at the ceiling / wall junction but now I am wondering whether this will make the ceiling look even lower.
I bet there is a decorating / cornicework trick to make a room look higher ceilinged than it actually is. Does anyone know what it is?
