It would seem that it isn't only in the UK we agonise over replacement gutters for period properties!

Odd though that none of us so far came up with copper - manufactured in the UK apparently!

Copper guttering is quite widely used in the area of France where we go and stay. It looks a bit bling at first, but wonderful once it's weathered a bit.

When will next you be basking in the sun and quaffing the local vino while we in the UK shiver?

It's not that I'm envious or anything, more a matter of wondering if you need a house sitter <IMG SRC="http://www.periodproperty.co.uk/discussing/smileys/smile.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=""> cos I'd rather be in Suffolk than in France if the truth be told! Although maybe not when those cold winds howl and the water is in short supply. We have the former but certainly not the latter oop north.

The gutters do look interesting though - I can see that they will weather to a very pleasing finish.

Obviously not for all historic buildings, but in the right place...

Yes but.....
Copper gutters + Pikey = No gutters.
The current scrap price of copper is very high.
