I have an issue regarding water not quite getting into part of my guttering. The slates at my eaves are fairly short to one end of our cottage, with minimal overhang over wall. Having replaced plastic guttering with cast iron, and at the problematic over hang part, slid a section of ‘eaves protector’ under the decayed sarking felt, I am still getting a leak down the face of the building.
Having tested it with a can, the slates are successfully draining into the gutter, and the not-ideal flashband (or whatever it is) appears not to leak. However, when water gets onto the top of the coping stone/kneeler it is getting past the gutter stop-end and down the wall. I’m guessing the ideal solution is to strip out the shoddy flash band and cement fillet and dress some lead in with an oversail that takes water into the gutter. I THINK The coping and kneeler are separate pieces – hence the cement bed. I should have checked the other side of the stone for certainty.
Any tips or views please? It's an issue as apart from wall getting soaked there is a window underneath bearing the brunt.
