Moving away from climate change exchanges of opinion for a thread or two.....

Don't think this has been mentioned thus far, but Monday saw an interesting program about recent conservation issues in Bath:

How developers nearly destroyed whole streets of historic buildings, and how campaigns succeeded in saving much of it.

Being on TV, its quite brief, but by past efforts, its quite good.

It was an interesting half hour and I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned earlier - hopefully the rest of the series will be worth watching too.

And it's preceded by a relaxing half-hour about the National Trust at Bodnant Garden, where I was last Friday on the one properly sunny day of my Welsh Odyssey :roll: .

How developers nearly destroyed whole streets of historic buildings, and how campaigns succeeded in saving much of it.

Unfortunately developers did destroy whole streets - hundreds of Georgian buildings were lost. Campaigners did manage to stop it eventually but much of the damage had already been done.
