Hi, I have a 1500's cottage which rather annoyingly the previous owner redesigned the house meaning that there is no fireplace but has left the stack in place. (takes up space and unable to put a fire in).
During the winter I have noticed that in the mornings there is a very annoying Drip in the chimney stack. This is happening only in the mornings when the central heating comes on and on nights/mornings when it hasn't rained so I don't think its letting in rain. I highly suspect its condensation thats forming on the top plate that blocks off the chimney and then dropping down. Holes have been drilled into the top plate and covered with a chimney pot thinking this may help but the drip is still occurring.
Was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks
