Our 1740’s house has a cellar with one half beamed (this has an extractor fan at that end outputting via a street level airbrick) and the other half has a barrelled vaulted ceiling of clunch (with zero ventilation). The window that used to be there (grille from street level) has been concreted over. We have two dehumidifiers on all the time. My question is how does one get access to even getting an airbrick in or installation of another fan?
Does anyone have any successful outcomes to enhance this situation. We are currently limewashing the walls which should begin some improvement. The flooring (inherited) is concrete, there is not visible moisture but we pour out 1.5 litres of water a day! A friend has an old property and there is an airbrick in their hearth, but have no clue on how to approach this.
Any suggestions/pointers will be greatly received. Thanks for your time
