Church fire in Dover

Hello,

It has been a sad weekend here in Dover, we have all but lost the beautiful grade 2 listed St Martins church (see link below) then another fire has destroyed a former college building that was about to be renovated. We do not have many of these buildings remaining so we cannot afford to lose them!

How far on were the works to convert?

I know it is so awful, every time I drive past I feel so sad. It was the launch weekend this weekend. A friend of mine was working on the show flat, she said the work was lovely, allot of care had been taken on the cleaning of the stone ect and the stained glass was looking amazing.

Dover is so overlooked in many ways, we have some lovely buildings here (The castle is the only one most people come and see) but being such a small place it really does affect the community when something like this happens.

I hope it was insured and that it can be saved.

Waht about the college building?

I hope so too. The fire at the college building is being treated as arson, the work on conversion here was just about to start. The church fire was accidental (Electrical I think)
