Choosing Stained Glass

I need some stained glass for my vestibule door. I've been trying to choose for a year and currently there is a very large hole where the glass should be.

My house is a victorian semi nothing fancy and I'm looking for stained glass that would have been typically used in victorian times.

I don't want anything fussy or religious or charles rennie macintosh.

Just looking for ideas or maybe a photo of what you chosen for your own house.

Any advice appreciated.

Here is a pic of the glass in my 1900 terrace. There are plenty of designs around to choose from. It really depends what suits the style of house and what you like!!!

I agree it is a personal choice but I'd like to go with something thats fitting for the period of the house as well.

Any other photos welcome. I need all the help I can get. I'm a bit scared of making a £2,000 mistake!!

A £2k mistake? £2k would buy a lot of leaded lights. I spent less than that restoring the ones you see in the first link, plus a large door panel - and I was told restoration takes a lot longer than "new build".

I know its a lot of money and I'd much restored but there wasn't glass there originally it was a full wooden door with the two top panels removed!

What I mean is, unless you go for something really, really fancy from my (limited) experience I can't imagine 2 panels costing anywhere near £2k.

Dianne - this should give you some nice ideas. I'm not a huge fan of the Victorian era personally but I do like stained glass. There is something very mesmerising about it and it reminds me of using a kaleidoscope as a child.
