We have had to demolish a chimney breast in our 1800's property. This is to make way for a window at first floor level.
Our builder says we must install a dry lining system on the wall rather than simply plaster it, otherwise soot and other contaminents in the brickwork will leach through and produce unsightly stains at the surface.
Is there a way to seal the wall against this problem and thus avoid the dry lining route?
