Chimney Pot Panic

I'm trying to find a chimney pot to match the one in the photo. I'm in a hurry so roofers can continue roofing. I thought I had got through the panic last week but a reclamation yard sent something quite different from their photos and their pot is not close to matching.

Anyone have any tips on reclamation yards to visit in the Bedfordshire area or other places to look? I'm going to try Solopark in Cambridge tomorrow and have emailed an eBay person in Southampton.

While you're looking for an exact match, perhaps you could also keep your eyes open in case there's a (different) matching pair available - a sort of Plan B.

I have another 2 pots on another stack and I flaunched them in on Sunday before the new mismatched pot arrived and I can't do them again as the scaffold stage has come down. It wouldn't have been so bad if the mismatched pot had accepted a liner bit it was too narrow so the original pot is now secured by the liner. Project management gone wrong in my normal fashon. My fall back plan is to prop the liner up and move the original pot to the visible side, but the liner is a very tight fit in the chimney.

There are some similar to that around me in Brum if you can travel that far. I don't know if any will match but certainly the ones on my house are similar. Try Steve Forde he does only roofing reclaims and has lots of pots.

something similar is still manufactured by Hepworth and probably others but doesn't look to have such a fine flange at the top.

Yes, that car looks rather precariously balanced on top of that scaffold board. Be careful up there malcolm!

That's a good idea.

I would also be open to the idea of having a variety of chimney pots. It can look charming, and reflect the development of the building over the ages.

The panic is off a little - it turns out I can flaunch the chimney without stepping on the roof so the roofers can get on with roofing while I procrastinate.

There aren't any other houses in the village with matching chimney pots and I wanted to be special. But good point Penners. One pot will have an ugly cowl on top hanging a flue for a wood burner and it wouldn't be all that noticeable if that one were round instead of square/octagonal. The one that came off was round, white, and about twice as tall as the original pot and that has served perfectly well since the 1950s.
