Chatsworth House Attic sale

Hi all.. sorry i haven't been around of late. Things are a little hectic in my parts right now.
Anyway i don't know if any of you know or if you are interested but Chatsworth House is having an Attic sale at the beginning of october.
Unfortunately i won't be able to attend as i will be on holiday. Shame really because i would have loved to have gone especially as my grandma used to work there

Everything is available to view from Friday 1st-monday 4th October and sale days are Tuesday 5th-Thursday 7th October.

Hello Ilona - we almost forgive you for ignoring us for so long. :wink:

I suspect that an attic sale at Chatsworth won't quite be the same thing as an attic sale chez moi.

I foresee a few Constable landscapes, Chippendale chairs, perhaps a couple of Grinling Gibbon screens. Here you'd find an old melamine kitchen table, a badly turned standard lamp with a dented shade and a couple of incomplete jigsaws (that Mrs P refuses to throw away because "they'll be fun for the grandchildren").

My father's cousin was for several decades the chief land agent to the Duke of Devonshire, at Chatsworth. I wonder whether I could get first pick of the attic throwouts.

Thats a tad mean i know you all love me really. At the moment i am knee deep in electricians and to cap it all my eldest daughter and her husband have just had a baby and my youngest son has been chosen to train with the Team GB Gymnastics squad, so between work, babies, trying to sort the house out and spending twenty hours a week in the gym with my 8 year old i can't even remember what day it is half the time .
Even my laptop creaked when i opened it up this morning!

Incomplete jigsaws sound great if mounted on a wall in most random style complete with pva covering !ha!

I have had to think twice before touching anything from radiators to my kettle to the light switch and the central heating and gas supply. It seems our house has managed to "unearth " itself??? .. Almost £7k later and no gas or electric with a newborn in the house etc etc.. we are nearing the end. Even the resident ghosties seemed to make their appearance felt with the poor sparkies to the point one didn't want to return and the other sudden developed an "illness!"

Still all is fun and we wouldnt have it any other way i guess!
