Cement render removal

Afternoon all,

We bought a Victorian Villa and we have discovered that one of the walls was re rendered in cement probably in the past 20-30 years. We have some issues inside due to this, a couple of cold damp spots on the lime plaster. I have started to remove the render as pictured.



It falls off without much effort so going to remove all render from this wall and re-render in a more appropriate lime based render

My question is, can I leave the walls exposed without render until it can be re rendered in Spring/Summer?

Of course, the wind will help with the drying out process too. Only exception to this is if there are large areas of substantial pointing missing and the wall is likely to have driving rain against it to force moisture in. In which case, some isolated lime filling will suffice.

Lucky it’s all delaminated - fingers crossed it continues …!
