Cement removal

This is probably a really dumb question but here goes - we have just discovered dark red floor tiles under the carpet in what would have been the scullery in our 1901 house. Very sadly, a builder past decided a section of this floor would make a handy spot to mix his cement. Is there any way that cement can be removed from tiles of this kind? I am assuming not, but as the rest of the floor has survived, this seems a real shame. Any suggestions?

Thick cement - bolster & chisel
Thin cement - one of those really toxic liquids sold by H&G

Not the nicest of jobs, but well worth the effort.

Moo's right - it's a pig of a job but well worth doing. In the kitchen of our previous house we discovered the original quarry tiles under a layer of levelling compound under a layer of vinyl. My husband patiently chipped away over the course of a week or so!
