Hi All, I wonder if I could seek some advice about the outside cement render(horrid but can't afford complete render in lime) on our cob and stone property. I noticed a couple of hair line cracks and one spot where the render is bubbled and raised. What can I do to protect the property for the mean time until summer (will hack off loose render and re -render bubbled patch with lime in summer)?- if any one could advise me please, that would be great. This has probably been covered already so apologies if this is the case.

I took a small amount of render off a couple of years ago, and it's survived two winters so far. I've taken even more off now, and nothing more will be done until next year. I'm not expecting the house to fall down!

If you intend to do more appropriate repairs within a year or two, just grab a ladder and a modern silicone sealant cartridge with a gun and apply and smooth it over the cracks . It all has to come off, eventually, anyway

thanks for your post. I will do as you suggested Middi and use a silicone to protect it for the moment.
