Casein sealer for flooring

Interesting.
I've used casein powder in limewash (though, these days, I prefer linseed oil or tallow), and know that milk can be used for sealing stone and quarry-tiled floors, but I've not come across casein used on wood.

Now I’m confused. What is the best way to treat and protect a new or freshly stripped pine floor?

Ozmo oil or Beeswax and turpentine or Liberon floor sealer and finish or Casein sealer and Linseed oil wax or a combination of any of these?

You don't, do you. Their linseed oil paint is good stuff, so I suspect this may be too.

No I mean it. It may look good, I suspect if it consists of hydrated alkaline lime and milk (organic) protien it would look very similar to a soda wash chemical stain followed by a coat of modern waterbased sealer (which are made from natural corn starch protiens and crosslink in the same way) I would think the effect would look quite nice, a darkening of the pine and a very matt finish.

But you haven't actually seen it or tried it, especially with the finish they suggest?

No I haven't had anyone ask for it but I would not be adverse to trying it. Obviously you would have to be careful on very worm eaten very old timbers as the very strong alkalinity may damage these areas and you could not possibly consider using it on oak or walnut or mahogany as it may stain them badly. But on pine I would definately try it.
