Can identify this range cooker for me ?

Hi all

Anyone got any pointers about this:

To be honest I think renovating it is beyond us as it is v old and v rusty (have the rest of the house and garden to do) but I'd be glad to know what it is - and do you know if anyone would take it to renovate (and I guess is it worth anything with my moneygrabbing head on!)

mmm I used a Rayburn from about 1958 that looked similar but they usually had a logo of sorts on them. Mind you Rayburn are extremely helpful and may be able to direct you?

I only know that lots of old ranges are being refurbished these days so don't just assume you should dump /scrap it.

Thanks ladies - Will have a look at the dials next time I'm at the house. To be honest we're hoping to sell it for renovation (as long as someone comes to pick it up! It weighs a ton!)

I doubt it's worth much - most people can't give away elderly and inefficient ranges, unless they are AGA's and even then you don't get a great deal from the sort of places which take them for re-use.

Don't think it's quite heating heritage of the sort that hevac will be terribly interested in either.

There might be a plate on it somewhere telling you what it is, but spares nay be hard to come by and it's very rusty looking. re-enamelling won't be cheap.

They are very heavy to move and not easy without a lot of people power or machinery.

Thanks nemesis - just phoned a renovation company. Not interested and suggested a scrap dealer ! seems a shame though doesn't it !

It does - but I have an ancient AGA which cost me fifty quid several years' ago and three hundred and fifty to have disconnected and moved! That's before any sort of renovation of the thing!

You could try Freecycle or the local press to see if anyone is interested. Is it solid fuel?

Check on ebay. You will find lots of better condition cookers not selling for £50.00.

I have a rayburn which I will be wanting to get rid of soon. Will be glad if somebody is willing to take it off my hands for free.

is it true that you can date a "kitchen dresser" from the paint scheme? im told they were made to match the colours of the ranges.
ill see if i can find a picture. we were going to burn ours cos its a bit wormy, but then we saw one in an antique shop.

our cupboard is much like this(the one on the right), but without the tall side cupboard. kind of minty/sage green. same handles and hinges, and has round chrome+mesh vents in the top doors insted of windows
