Can anyone recommend a lime render repairer, Essex

Unfortunatly over night someone appears to have hit the front corner of our house with something. It has knocked off the bottom corner of the plaster taking off the metal mesh strip attached to the bottom lath. Leaving a rectangle of about 6 inches by about 18 inches. It looks like it may have been a bike peddle. (Our house fronts a public road)

This is way beyond my limited skills so need a professional. Can anyone recommend a lime plasterer in essex who would do this sort of repair?

If it's a metal mesh, are you sure it was rendered in lime?
My not-very-expert understanding is that lime render and metal mesh don't get on well.

Yes it is lime. The mesh is just a small amount of beading that runs along the bottom and attaches to the bottom lath.

Stainless steel mesh is fine with lime, but I believe galvanised might get discoloured.
Ebenezer, I know you said that it's beyond your skills, but you could try. If you made a mess, well just pull it off again. Lime is very forgiving like that.
Failing that, how about buying the correct material from say Mike Wye or Old House Store, and getting any old plasterer to apply it for you? It'll need tending, spraying and looking after while it dries, but perhaps you could do that, or at a local plasterer would be near enough to do it for you. Problem with having a specialist for a job like this is that they are more likely to be coming a long way, so less likely to want to take it on, because of all the looking-after that's needed if it's not going to crack.

I agree about stainless mesh but would also recommend it for any outside work, whether lime or cement render. We have cement render on some outbuildings and some of the corner beadings have corroded and the rust marks are staining through the render. The slight savings of galvanised render beading is a completely false economy in my view.

Zebra I would love to try it myself but unfortunatly Mrs Ebenezer won't accept less than a perfect finish and also it is in a very prominent position visible from the street so all more poor work would be plain for all to see! I do have a 18/19C privy which needs restoring so hopefully I can hone my skills on that.

Well it turns out that the company that Mrs Ebenezer recently started working for do lime rendering. So they came out to have a look next day and have now done the first coat. Final coat will be done tomorrow. Also they have done it at cost which is very decent of them saved us a good few quid! They even took a sample of the render up to Anglia lime to get the same type for the repair.

Another question if it's finished off tomorrow would Saturday be too early for a first coat of lime wash?
