Hi everyone, my name is Tom and im a student currently studying integrating energy efficiency into period properties and Im looking for some advice and views on the subject from other people who are enthusiastic on period properties like myself.

I've answered your survey but I think some of the questions are quite poorly worded and are leading.
Unfortunately Survey Monkey won't let me back in to give you constructive feedback on what I thought wasn't going to give you good data.

There is no signal answer to energy efficiency in historic buildings. There are many unobtrusive things that can be done to improve energy efficiency, but no one solution is appropriate for all situations.
In certain circumstances the best thing to do for a building that is historic is to do nothing at all - that includes fitting heating systems or expecting it to remain at a T shirt friendly 21C in mid winter.
However as a significant proportion of housing stock is over 100 years old period homes are going to need improvement or their occupiers will be in fuel poverty so this needs serious study.

I would also recommend taking a look over at The Green Building Forum but read before you post or you may get more than you bargain for in responses.
