Does anyone with a few quid fancy saving this large house near me. Probably good to rent out. One of the few nice ones left. Very large and probably quite cheap. All intact apart from the downstairs fireplaces. The ceilings and woodwork are great. I took a few pics during an open day that I shall put up later.

This is very interesting regarding house prices nationally. Near us there are serveral large, historic houses coming to auction over the next few weeks all guided under £200k. Similar houses in estate agents are still being advertised in excess of £350-400k.

Are we seeing a realignment of the market being preempted in auction prices? It would be interesting to see the current disparities between asking and selling prices in various regions. I realise building societies and the press are still quoting headline figures showing prices rising but these national indices are so heavily skewed by the increasingly independent microcosm that is the London market and its hinterland as to be irrelevant.

All claims of house price increase are however currently running under the governments quoted rate of inflation leaving prices nationally showing steady real term devaluation.

It certainly looks extraordinarily cheap, but bear in mind that this is only the auction guide price. If a couple of developers get into a bidding war, the price could go considerably higher.

I wonder why it's got a dirty great big flagpole attached to it. :?
