CABE and EH to combine

Saw this today.

Not sure whether this could be OK or disastrous.

“If you have bodies with competing functions that produces overlap, they are being looked at."

If they are competing it begs the question whether they should be combined because neither can then fulfill their original function -0 or have I missed something.

However, I do see that some shared resources could be sensible (i.e. basic admin).

Need to keep an eye on developments.

I'm a complete layman on this Stephen, but judging from their titles alone, I'd be surprised if CABE and EH could be regarded as having competing functions.

Isn't it the case that EH deals with what's already built, while CABE is concerned with what WILL be built?

Correct, though that doesn't stop them trampling on each other's patch with some frequency - and disagreeing. CABE should go back to being the sleepy old Royal Fine Art Commission (lampooned as The Royal Fat *rse Commission back when Ian Martin wrote the back page column in Building Design).
