Hi all - the saga of Lizzys windows moves forward slowly - I now have fully repaired window woodwork, reputtied glass, and variously 1 -2 initial coats of Holkham linseed oil paint (I'm a converted woman!) & yesterday it took me ages to fix all my fasteners catches etc (theres more to that task than meets the eye I now know) so no more drawing pins and string
My questions are:
1. Burnt Sand Mastic got all the rosin and sand but....... I see no Linseed oil so presumably I need to go buy some. When I have bought said bolied Linseed oil what are the proportions Sand to Rosin blend to Linseed oil ? no instructions on the kegs for us first timers - all hints welcome.
2. On the inside of 2 of my fixed casements I have a gap between the casement and the window frame surround - do you fill this with Burnt sand mastic or linseed oil putty or whats this 'caulking' stuff you all use for?
