Hello! We're currently sorting out the rim locks on the doors of our late C19th house. Unfortunately it's not been possible to remove the layers of later paint they're gunged up with without taking off the original black finish as well. A search of this group suggests that Japan/Brunswick Black might be a good match for this - has anyone actually used this and managed to get a decent finish? There seem to be plenty of places selling it online, but I'm not sure what sort of brushes you need etc.
