What a shame about the Huguenot church that survived 200 years, successive waves of immigration and the greed of the City, only to be completely gutted a few years ago. It's a scandal they have been allowed to get away with it.
There was another documentary on Spitalfields, made for the BBC in 2005 by Dan Cruickshank, called "The House That Wouldn'd Die" - I bought a copy on DVD from the Denis Severs House, 18 Folgate Street.
Well, then there's the book on the house: "18 Folgate: The Tale of a House in Spitalfields Street" by Dennis Severs published by Chatto & Windus, London 2001
And "The Saving Of The Spitalfields" By Mark Girouard...[ et al] is a very informative read. It is series of essays documenting how the Spitalfields trust came together and how they saved the buildings. Published by The Spitalfields Historic Buildings Trust, London 1989
