Breathaplaster, has anyone used?

Has anyone used this? Having the kitchen done next year and using builders for most as it’s the kitchen and being without for 7 months whilst I get me act into gear doesn’t sound like fun. Front and back walls need redoing, really could do with something that sets quicker and the builders can apply. Limelite still has cement in and this says it doesn’t?

According to safety sheet and google it contains, lime, quartz and calcium dihydroxide :?: :?: :?: :?:

According to the ASBP it contains hemp as well

I've had a look at this a few times, never ended up pulling the trigger due to cost. I was not really sure that there was much benefit to that against hydraulic lime plaster, and I suspect hydraulic lime is cheaper?

The benefit for me would be time. It goes off quick, so the floor could be laid quicker etc. And I could be the plasterer to do it rather than doing it myself.

I’ve just read the technical spec and there’s a few odd statements:

i. Gypsum occurs naturally and has been used to gauge historical plasters for many centuries.

ii. The product is essentially non-hydraulic hydrated lime with the addition of hemp shiv so will likely be slower to set than hydraulic (NHL) limes. In perennially wet locations there is a danger of the hemp ‘rotting’. The claim for faster setting is non sensical unless some kind of pozzolanic additive is present.

iii. Calcium dihyroxide to the best of my knowledge doesn’t exist. Quicklime is calcium oxide which when slaked with water creates calcium hydroxide. Calcium dihydrate is sometimes used incorrectly to describe the above as the chemical formula is Ca(OH)2.

iv. It claims to act like gypsum. How can this be? Gypsum is hygroscopic and moderately water soluable.

v. At £25 for a £20kg bag this isn’t cheap. Plenty of suppliers supply pre wet mixed lime putty plaster at less than £10 for 25kg bags. Admittedly this is a powdered product so when water is added the weight will increase.

v. The quartz in the data sheet will almost certainly be sand.

NHL lime will go off a lot quicker than Breathaplasta...

Also, you can get premixed hemp hydraulic limes, Ty Mawr for example, which I have used very successfully here, and the hemp qualifies it as an insulation product so lower VAT...
